Most ferocious terror attack, says Advani
The
BJP on Thursday expressed solidarity with the Government to face what
Leader of the Opposition LK Advani described as “the most ferocious
terrorist attack on the country since Independence.â€
Advani, who
landed in Mumbai on Thursday evening, told reporters, “It is the most
ferocious terrorist attack in India since Independence. Mumbai is the
financial capital of the country and such attacks not only affect India
but also the rest of the world.â€
The NDA’s prime ministerial
candidate talked tough but avoided getting into any sort of a
blame-game. Asked if he saw the whole attack as a Government’s failure,
Advani replied that the Government has itself agreed that it was an
intelligence failure. “I will speak on the attack in detail later. This
is not the time to speak on such issues,†he said, adding, “No other
city in our country has borne the brunt of terrorism so repeatedly and
in so deadly a fashion as Mumbai,†PTI quoted him as saying in Mumbai.
He
described the terrorist attack as an audacious challenge to India’s
Nation State and appealed while maintaining calm and unity, “we must
all resolve to break the back of India’s enemiesâ€.
The
magnitude, Advani said, of their sinister design and determination is
evident from the fact that they are yet to be fully overpowered. “In
the context of what has happened last night in Mumbai, there is no
doubt that both the UPA at the Centre and the Congress-NCP coalition
Government in Maharashtra have a lot to answer for.
