More than Hundred Ayyappa devotees dead following stampede

More than hundred Ayyappa devotees returning back from Sabarimala were killed following a Stampede after an accident in Pullumedu.Majority of the Pilgrims are from Tamilnadu, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. Pullumedu is near Vandi Periyar in Kerala Tamilnadu border 

More than 2 lakhs devotees were camped in Pullumedu area when the accident happened. No rescue has been started yet, There is no range for mobile and wireless is the only mode of communication to outer world. As per media reports rescue operations has not started yet. There was only one ambulance in the area were two lakh devotees camped! Absence of electricity in the area is also deterrent to rescue operations.

Early reports also suggest that a Jeep which lost control thrust into tents of Ayyappa devotees. Suresh from Mysore and Korukutty from Mallappuram are two two dead bodies which so far identified.
