KOZHIKODE: More evidence has emerged to disprove PDP chairman Abdul Nazar Madhani’s claim that he has nothing to do with the terrorists who had sent Malayali youths to Kashmir for terror training.
Sarfaraz Nawaz, one of the accused arrested in connection with the Bangalore bomb blasts, had told the investigating agency that Madhani was a mediator in settling a dispute between Ummer Farooq, a terrorist who is still at large, from Malappuram and Razeeb.
This happened after Madhani was released from Coimbatore jail.
According to the interrogation report, a copy of which is with the ‘Express,’ Sarfaraz Nawaz went to meet Madhani at the Anwarusseri Orphanage in Kollam along with Tadiyantavide Nazeer, a key figure in the terror network, Aftab (Abdul Raheem who was killed in the encounter with security forces in Kashmir), and Khalid of Kannur. The aim of the meeting was to ‘settle the dispute between Ummer Farooq and Razeeb who was a close associate of Madhani. The dispute was over Ummer Farooq financing Razeeb for a plastic chair business. The statement says ‘I was taken by Naseer to speak and convince Madhani about anti-democracy and restrain him from participating in the democratic process.†“Ummer Farooq told Madhani to direct Razeeb to give back the money which he had financed as loan for his business.†“Madhani became furious at the harsh words used by Ummer Farooq. Meanwhile, I tried to pacify him when he raised his voice against Ummer Farooq but he shouted against me also.â€
