After recovering from swine flu, Chief Minister Narendra Modi on Friday held a cyber thanks-giving event for all his well-wishers.

Through a video conference from his official residence in Gandhinagar, Modi thanked all the people who had wished him a speedy recovery during his week-long indisposition soon after return from a three-day trip to Russia.

Modi took the opportunity of the cyber Sneh Milan — a customary get-together to celebrate Besta Baras (Gujarati New Year) — for sending people Diwali wishes.

This is not the first time Modi has used the cyber route to reach out to the people. On Teachers’ Day (September 5) too, Modi had addressed several lakh school students and teachers across the State in a similar manner.

The network for the cyber thanks-giving was prepared by the Bhaskaracharya Institute of Space Applications & Geo-Informatics (BISAG), a Gujarat Government undertaking in the field of information technology. The video conferencing network provided by BISAG linked more than 13,600 panchayats, 7,400 district development and taluka development offices and 5,000 rural schools and colleges all over the State to the Chief Minister’s bungalow.

Modi said, “The touch of sentiments expressed by you all during my physical illness made my recovery speedy and pleasant.” The Chief Minister is likely to resume full activities from Monday.
