Modi announces Rs.13,000 crore package for urban poor of Gujarat
Gandhinagar:Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi today announced a Rs.13,000 crore package for urban poor of Gujarat. The announcement was made in the State Assembly under rule 44 of Assembly Rules. The package spread over next five years is to benefit 50lakh people. This is the third package the Chief Minister announced during the budget session.
Announcing this the Chief Minister said that it is a strange thing that in the rural areas poor are becoming rich while in the urban areas poor are becoming poorer. Under this scheme Chief Minister has offered employment opportunities to urban poor, all infrastructural facilities for urban poor, clean and healthy environment, health and nutrition, house to all at affordable price and empowerment of poor by education and social justice.
The provisions include individual toilets for 1.75lakh people, employment to 1 lakh women in garbage collection, solar system in slums, employment for 3 lakhs in five years, 2.5 lakh houses.
