Love for toys proved fatal for a five-year-old girl who was brutally murdered by a minor over her refusal to part with her toys. The murderer, a 15-year-old boy was arrested by the Yerwada police.
The victim, five-year-old Sayma Khan of Kharadi, was murdered by the killer who lived near her house. The police said that the boy slit Sayma’s throat with a blade following a petty quarrel over her not returning his toys.
In an unfortunate turn of events, Sayma had gone missing while playing near her house on October 14. Unable to find her, Sayma’s father, Mohammed lodged a complaint with the police immediately. The next day, Sayma’s body was found in an open plot near Raghobanagar at Kharadi.
Addressing the media, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone-IV) Jalindar Supekar said the police received information that the boy was seen with Sayma while she was playing near her house that evening. When questioned, the boy first said he suspected Sayma’s father of involvement in the murder. However, he later admitted to his own involvement in the crime. “We have recovered the blade from him,†he added.
According to Supekar, the boy, who used to play with Sayma every evening, told the police that she would take his toys but not return them. On October 14, he took Sayma along with him on the pretext of buying her firecrackers. Instead, he took her to the open plot, which is located behind a restaurant.
Supekar said the boy first tried to strangulate Sayma. “However, when she tried to raise an alarm, he slit her throat with the blade which he was carrying. He then put some grass on her body and covered it with a gunny bag.
