Maya makes her bureaucrats scape goat for her Political Mileage
With the Supreme Court tightening the noose around the bureaucrats in Uttar Pradesh for alleged contempt of the court on the issue of memorials and parks in the state capital. the IAS officers are becoming increasingly restive about their fate for working for a reckless leader like Ms Mayawati and of course Malyam Singh Yadav before her.
Â
With the proverbial sword hanging over the head of the Chief Secretary Atul Gupta, in the recent contempt case, officers are now debating whether they should finally learn to defy the illegal orders of their political masters. The UP IAS officers have already started sending discreet emails to their colleagues and counterparts , demanding a discussion on the issue and even planning to approach the Central IAS Association for guidance on the subject. Needless to say that the bureaucrats are required to serve their political masters in an impartial and non partisan capacity. Â
Â
For the benefit of the readers on this link, The Chief Minister passes orders to his/her Chief Secretary to accomplish a project within a given period of time. In return, the Chief Secretary, in compliance, passes his orders for the work to proceed. In the event, the Supreme Court had passed orders for all work to be stopped at Lucknow park immediateky, . MS Mayawati had no wish to comply. . As the Chief Secretary was under Mayawati, he was obliged to follow the orders of the Chief Minister. So technically , it was not Mayawati but her Chief Secretary who was in contempt of court and was therefore liable for prosecution. The Supreme Court has already issued a show cause notice to the Chief Secretary asking him to explain why he did not obey the orders of the court.
Â
So the crafty, Ms Mayawati, knowing that no harm would come to her personally continued with the project while looking for some political mileage from the whole saga while the poor Chief Secretary is wetting his trousers.
