Madarssa teachers may have abused more students
CHANGANASSERY: Police suspect that the two madarssa teachers, who were arrested the other day on the charges of sexual harassment, had exploited more students. The probe team, headed by Changanassery CI Manoj Kabeer, is planning to seek the court permission to take the two accused Falahil Rasheed, 51, of Valanjavazhi, Alappuzha, and Jalaludeen, 52, of Vandanam, Alappuzha into custody for detailed investigation. The duo were arrested from their houses in Alappuzha the other day and remanded in judicial custody.
The teachers came under scanner when the parents of an 11yearold boy and 12yearold girl undergoing religious studies in the madarssa lodged a complaint with Kottayam SP A Akbar. The madarssa authorities had initiated disciplinary action and expelled the two teachers a month ago. The students had reportedly told their parents that the two teachers had forced them to satiate their perverted sexual desires.
