Lathicharge on Kumbhmela Pilgrims; 36 Died

Allahabad: More than 36 people died and scores others were injured in a stampede at Allahabad Railway Station on Sunday following Police Lathicharge. Earlier reports given out by Railway says the cause for stampede as railing on a footbridge collapse later as more true reports comes out it has been clear that Railway Police resorted to lathicharge on Pilgrims.

Making things worse was there was no medical assistance available at the station and few railways staff were present, it being a Sunday. The day saw more than three crore pilgrims taking the holy dip at the Sangam on the occasion of Mauni Amavasya, which marked the second Shahi Snan of Maha Kumbh.

As reported by Times Of India – No senior railway police officer or even railway official came to the spot even as victims cried for help. Rohit, a passenger, told TOI that the stampede was caused by mismanagement. “There was none to hear our grievance and aged people and children were the worst hit,” said Gayatri from Banda, Bihar. She added that, “We kept urging GRP and railway authorities for help but none came.”

RSS Swayamsevaks reached the spot with First aid kits and water as the news spread and started relief work. VHP leader Dr Pravin Togadia along with Hindu Help Line medical team is also helping the relief work
