Landmark day for Kerala’s Hindu society
Work set to build an International Pilgrim Centre For Devotees Of Lord Ayyappa
PATHANAMTHITTA : Today will certainly be a landmark day for Kerala’s Hindu society and for devotees of Lord Ayyappa all over the world. The Sabari Saranasramam Trust, formed by several Hindu organizations, have come up with a multi-faceted practical solution to the several problems faced by Ayyappa devotees year after year. The solution is to construct a centre on the roadside near
A piece of land measuring 17.40 acres has been purchased and all legal formalities were completed today. Building of facilities for the devotees, designed by well-known architects, will start in the coming days. When completed, around 40,000 Ayyappa devotees can make use of its facilities at a time.
The objectives of constructing such a centre are:
Ø   Â
To provide food at subsidized prices so that the devotees can avoid buying inexplicably overcharged food from hotels.
Ø   Â
To provide round-the-clock facilities for bath, bhajan and rest.
Ø   Â
To provide parking and urgent servicing for vehicles of devotees.
Ø   Â
To provide emergency medical treatment for devotees.
Â
Ø   Â
To provide outlets for buying essential items at subsidized rates, saving them from being exploited by greedy vendors.
Ø   Â
To open information centres manned by volunteers from Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Hindi speaking states.
Ø   Â
A Seva Kendram, to be built on the same land, will have a permanent Balasadanam (orphanage) for poor and destitute boys from neglected sections of society.
Â
The Seva Kendram will also be used as a vehicle to develop awareness among Ayyappa devotees about the need to protect Hindu places of worship and to give guidance to the young generation.
Â
The continued neglect of ruling Government towards millions of devotees, even after looting crores of money from Sabarimala made Hindu leaders to come up with a such a master plan for the devotees.   Â
