KOCHI: The state police along with the intelligence agencies have started probing the possible links between extremist elements in Kashmir and similar outfits in the state.

The investigation has been carried out in the wake of the recent killing of a group of people who are suspected to have South Indian links.

In a crucial breakthrough, the investigation officials have come across evidence that some of those killed in Kashmir had made several phone calls to Kerala. The police have started monitoring the calls being made to the state.

The investigation got a new turn when reports came that the two men who were shot dead by the Army in Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday had roots in Kerala.

There were reports that the officials found some evidence from these people establishing their links. These include a voter identity card, a medical prescription and some ticket stubs.

The available evidence point to a Parappanangadi resident Shakir Ahmad.
