Kerala HC indirectly says – Ban Attukal Pongala
Kochi: Here comes yet another directive from Kerala High Court – Do not Block Roads for Attukal Pongala and not to cause any inconvenience to public. A Division Bench comprising Justice C N Ramachandran Nair and Justice Bhabani Prasad Ray issued the directive while considering a petition submitted by Girish Das of Navab Niayama Sahaya Samiti.
For Attukal Pongala millions of women gathers to offer Pongala to goddess and have received world record for the largest congregation of women in one place.Pongala is not a crowd of bhaktas as you percieve; pongala creates a community bound by love and mutual trust. Its varied colours are united on a common objective of bhakti. Here you could see people from different walks of life, regions, caste and status coming together to become part of a community to submit to Attukalamma. There is no hatred, no disobedience, no non-cooperation, but only submission.
If 3 million devotees converge at a particular point there will definitely road blocks and the Temple authorities with the help of NGO’s have made the pilgrimage smooth over past several years. What the court have now on mind is not clear? Whether they want devotees to come to land in the temple via helicopters? Whether court wants to shift Attukaal Temple to some sea shore and have the offering there over there? Isn’t this ruling indirectly saying devotees should not come out from home this time as it will cause difficulties to few minorities?
Road blocks in Kerala is a part of day to day life .Court have no objection to road blocks created by Muslims every friday outside mosques. Road blocks created by Church festivals is also fine. The Road jams following Political rallies which is a day to day affair in the life of a Keralite is also fine. The Road blocks caused by unscientific Road works and Gutters is also of no worry. What is worrying the honourable court is the Hindus right to worship.
What will follow next will be on following lines – As it cause Road blocks – Ban Vidhyarambham  in Thunchan Parambu , Ban Guruvayur Ekadasi , Ban Pithru Tharpanam in Thirunelli, Varkala and Thirunavaya , Ban Thrissur Pooram – ban each and every event where Hindu converge and shut down all temples.
Those who make such judgements, unfortunately fail to sense the growing fury of a common Hindu and once his patience runs out – What is in store for these Pseudo Hindus who don’t care two hoots for the Hindu sentiments is unpredictable. Â
