A Terrorist Roams Free

In Tamilnadu, half a dozen political parties, big and small, are known to make the right noises off and on, in support of the banned LTTE and its objective of a separate Tamil Ealam in Sri Lanka. One such group is ‘Naam Tamilar’ (We Tamils) party founded by filmi hero – turned – politician Seeman (real name Sebastian). On the fourth death anniversary of LTTE chief Prabhakaran last week, this group tried to organise a public meeting in Cuddalore.

The police refused permission and so a hall meeting was conducted. It was in this meeting that the notorious leader of the Jammu-Kashmir Liberation Front, Yasin Mallik shared the dias with Seeman and mouthed separatist jargon. In his speech, he absurdly equated the struggle of Srilankan Tamils to the separatist activities of Jihadis in Kashmir. People of Tamilnadu were not bothered about the gimmicks of Seeman.

But they ask this question: How it was possible for a Kashmir terrorist to come down all the way to Cuddalore, make a separatist speech there and go back unscathed? The only case filed against Seeman by the state police is that he spoke at the meeting beyond the permitted 10 pm limit that day! It is pointed out that when Seeman made a hate speech against Sinhalese at a pro LTTE meet in Canada in 2009, he was arrested and ousted from that country. But neither the state police nor the central agencies cared to take action against him so far.
