NEW DELHI : Joining issue with CPI-M leader Brinda Karat on the Sawmi Ramdev controversy, the RSS today alleged her charges against the yoga group was a conspiracy aimed at demeaning reputed people of Indian culture.

“The allegation levelled by Karat against Ramdev is a conspiracy hatched by retrograde Leftists to demean reputed persons of Bharatiya culture. They are experts in dirty tricks department which they employed in Baba Ramdev case also,” RSS spokesperson Ram Madhav told PTI.

Asserting that Karat had no authority to take samples, he said “she has violated the sampling norms stipulated by the government, and the Health Ministry has colluded with her in this conspiracy.” Demanding action against Karat and ministry officials for allegedly violating sampling norms, Madhav said “the country should rise in protest against the sinister campaign launched by anti-national Left forces led by Karat.

The VHP too came out in support of Guru Ramdev advising him to file a defamation suit against Karat.

“Karat is absolutely wrong in attacking Swami Ramdev. The Communists get needled by his popularity, his love for Hindutva and the spread of Hindutva by his medicines,” senior VHP leader Acharya Giriraj Kishore told PTI.

“On the other hand, multinational companies do not want traditional Indian medicines to become popular as India is a big market for them. This is an international conspiracy against him,” he said.

Saying he uses Ramdev’s medicines and found them to be good, the VHP leader suggested that Ramdev should file a defamation suit against Karat.

Asked if VHP would undertake any programme in support of the Swami, he said “it is not a question of any movement. We give moral support to him.
