Kabul attack on Indian Embassy; A joint venture of Taliban and ISI – Rajnath Singh

via Press Release published on July 7, 2008

I condemn in the strongest possible terms the terrorist attack at Indian Embassy in Kabul that left nearly 40 innocent people including certain Indian officials dead and many more injured. It is an act of cowardice and a crime against humanity.

This barbaric and vicious attack on innocent civilians deserves the condemnation of every peace loving individual. Initial investigation in this case is finger pointing towards the Talibans who have carried out this attack in collusion with the ISI.

Afghanistan President Mr Hamid Karzai had already warned the world community about the nefarious designs of the ISI and its active involvement in promoting terrorist activities. It has now become clear that the ISI is actively involved in destablising peace and harmony in the region. I hope this unholy alliance is exposed quickly and those involved in this attack should be severely punished for committing such a henious crime.

I have been repeatedly saying that the Government of India should formulate a broader policy on terrorism to counter this growing menace in Indian subcontinent.

I extend my deepest condolences to the victims and their families and urge the Government of India to provide immediate relief to the affected families. I also demand the Government to ensure safety and security of Indian citizens in the region.

It is high time that the Government should come out with a comprehensive policy to safeguard our national interests and the safety and security of our citizens working in the neigbouring countries.
