K.T. Jayakrishan Master murder case : Four accused acquitted

NEW DELHI : In a shocking verdict by the Supreme Court, the four accused for the murder of Bharateeya Youva Morcha state leader K.T. Jayakrishan Master were acquitted and first accused Pradeepan commuted the death sentence into life imprisonment. All the accused were local CPM activists.


 


The trial court in 2003 had held all the accused guilty and awarded them death sentence which was upheld by the Kerala High Court last year.


 


K.T. Jayakrishan Master was murdered in a broad daylight in a school classroom seven years ago in front of more than 50 students.


 


The present CPM-led Kerala government had replaced the public prosecutor with a pro CPM advocate while arranging top criminal lawyers of the country headed by Ram Jethmalani for the murder convicts. There were also reports that the CPM had paid millions as advocate fee to Jethmalani to defend the convicts and some backdoor negotiations were also undertook with the help of the CPM’s central leadership to protect the accused.
