Justice Iyer’s concern over Taslima’s condition
KOCHI: Justice V R Krishna Iyer has expressed concern over the ‘de facto solitary confinement’ of writer Taslima Nasreen.
“Taslima is not a prisoner but a fine person with independent judgment of high order, even if her views may be opposed by the fanatics who resist free thoughts with obdurate obscurantism and fossil feudalism,’’ Iyer said in a letter to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
Justice Iyer has urged the Prime Minister not to be browbeaten by the overbearing bigotry of the neighbouring country’s hostile minority.
