Issue white paper on the status of the ‘Converted Christians’ – PCLM

via Press Release published on December 24, 2009

New Delhi, December 24, 2009: During past few weeks there has been lot of discussion on Rangnath Mishra report on the minority. The Poor Christians Liberation Movement (PCLM) urges the Church leadership to issue a white paper on the status of the ‘converted Christians’ in India and not totally depend on the government.

It is worth recalling that the Church leadership has been demanding reservation for the converted Christians for a long time. The PCLM in a letter to the bishops of India has pointed out that the Church must pay compensation for neglecting its poor members as the church is receiving billions of dollars from foreign countries in the name of poor converted Christians of India.

The Poor Christians Liberation Movement (PCLM) is of the opinion that the Church leaders in India are taking undue advantage of Smt. Sonia Gandhi being a Christian and are unduly pressursing Dr Man Mohan Singh government.

The PCLM president, RL Francis, stated that Rangnath Mishra Commission report is misleading and the Church is diverting the attention of poor Christians from the real issue. “It would be better that the bishops conference of India in consultation with Vatican and the World Council of Churches (WCC)  brings out a White Paper on the employment in the Christians institutions and  enrolment  of Christian chidlren in the English medium schools run across the country by the Christian missionaries”.
