Ghaziabad: Four boys, between 12 and 17 years of age, have accused a Delhi madarsa staff of sexually abusing them and beating them up brutally when they resisted.

The four boys spoke to this reporter after they ran away from the madarsa early on Saturday morning with one of them showing welts, evidence of an obviously brutal beating, all over his body. Three of the boys belong to Bihar and one is from Bulandshahr in Uttar Pradesh.

An official of the madarsa situated in north Delhi, speaking on the phone, feigned ignorance and declined to say anything on the subject. No police case has yet been registered.

The boys told this reporter: “There were four persons in the madarsa who used to force us into physically degrading acts. They would call us to their rooms to massage their legs and forced us into dirty acts. If we resisted, we used to be beaten up brutally. Ultimately, we could not take the cruelty any more and ran away.”

According to the boys, they all escaped on Friday night but one of them was caught by the staff of the madarsa at the railway station and whipped with a hose used for watering a garden.

“I was beaten up brutally but in the morning I managed to escape again,” the boy told this reporter. “We met at the railway station where my friends had waited for me.” They had decided to go to Bulandshahr to the family of one of them, but at the Ghaziabad station, they were spotted by a TV reporter.

The boys said they had a tough life, getting up at 4 am and going to sleep after 10 pm. “The food we got was just dal and roti, nothing else. At breakfast, we ate the rotis left over from dinner. And our lunch and dinner was limited to two thin rotis each and some dal,” said one of the boys. No police complaint has been lodged yet as the boys were too scared to go to the cops.
