Let Bharat remain Bharat only-Mohan Bhagwat

“What we need today is clarity of objective-whether we want to be America or China or anything else. We must develop our own identity based on our cultural roots like a tree that flourishes with its roots intact. We are Bharat and should remain Bharat only. We have to take only this Bharat to the pinnacle of glory,” said RSS Sarsanghachalak Shri Mohan Bhagwat. He was speaking at a function organised for releasing a book, India Battles to Win, written by Shri Tarun Vijay, in New Delhi on October 28. Rupa & Co., the publisher of the book, organised the function at Parliament Library Building. Many leaders, diplomats, intellectuals and distinguished people of the society were present at the function.

Shri Bhagwat said Bharat would go nowhere leaving her roots. In the wake of the mounting tension with China and Pakistan, he questioned the foreign policy of the UPA government and stressed on diplomatic strategy over battle. He said diplomatic wins were more important than war with neighbouring countries. “We do not want to fight anyone but we must build ourselves so that anybody cannot mess with us,” he added.

The RSS Sarsanghachalak also advocated open debates among various ideologues and profound introspection for the cause of progress. “We have become habitual to debate an issue just for the sake of debate. After debating the issue we should reach a consensus. We do not have the tradition of ideological untouchability. We want healthy debates with open mind and heart. All what we want is victory of Bharat and this should be clear to all of us,” Shri Bhagwat said.

Earlier, Shri Shekhar Gupta, Editor-in-Chief of The Indian Express, raised the issue of healthy debates and said every ideology and philosophy should be debated because those which are not debated remain on the fringes, hence they feel excluded, which is not good for democracy.

Shri Sanjay Gupta, Editor-in-Chief of the Jagran Group of Newspapers, said the book has touched on various vital issues concerning the nation and has highlighted where our policymakers failed and committed mistakes. Shri Rajesh Kalra, Editor-in-Chief of the Times of India Internet, also spoke on the occasion.
