Image of the Day – We are Proud of you , But..
WE ARE PROUD OF YOU , WE SALUTE YOUR MARTYRDOM & WE ARE DEEPLY DISTURBED BY THE FACT THAT, TERRORIST AFZAL GURU IS STILL ALIVE.
It was on December 13, 2001 when five terrorists entered the Parliament, the symbol of India’s democracy, and began indiscriminate firing. Many of our lawmakers were inside the building at that time but fortunately none of them was hurt.
Unfortunately India lost some of its bravest children in the form of the security personnel who gave up their lives to protect the honour of our country.
All five terrorists were killed. However, eight security personnel and one gardener lost their lives.
In December 2002, four JeM members were caught by Indian authorities and put on trial.
One of the accused, Mohammad Afzal Guru, was sentenced to the death penalty for the incident.
On December 13, 2006, the families of the deceased security personnel returned the gallantry medals to the government with hope that Afzal Guru will be hanged. However, Afzal Guru continues to live as guest of the Nation.
Ten years from that attack, the nation today remembered the sacrifice of the valorous few who protected the dignity of the country.
