Honour this researcher

Chennai:Recommendations are on for the conferment of civil honours on the Republic Day. One man who made history, wrote history and changed history deserves recognition and honour from the government and the people.

Dr.S.Kalyanaraman, who was working as an Executive Director of the Asian Development Bank at Manila and getting a good salary, had a burning passion in life – to find out the source and course of the river Saraswathi. To him the river was not a myth but was as real as Ganga and Yamuna since it is mentioned in the ancient Vedas and Puranas.

Prompted by Sri Moropant Pingle who also had the same mission, Kalyanaraman resigned the lucrative job, returned to India and plunged whole time into research and finally, with his team, succeeded in his ambitious project. That discovery not only brought Saraswathi water for irrigation to Rajasthan but changed the concept in determining the date and period of our ancient history and civilization by pushing them further back by many thousand years. His seven-volume work on the subject is a masterpiece of research and an outstanding contribution to history.

Should not a grateful country acknowledge the services of such a great and deserving son?
