HK demands immediate removal of Union Minister E Ahmmed from Cabinet

via HK published on November 13, 2006

The astounding revelations of Pak National Fahad arrested at Bangalore exposed the functioning of Kozhikkode and Malappuram passport offices and the truth that a large number of Pak national have acquired passports as Keralites with the connivance of Police officials, Travel Agents and Postal employees.

This incident should have prompted the Union Minister handling the External Affairs portfolio to come out with an explanation in that regard. This country had the reputation of witnessing railway minister resigning when serious rail accidents occurred by assuming responsibility for such mishaps; whereas an issue that has put the national security at stake did not prompt the minister responsible for external affairs and hailing from the same area for tendering his resignation.  Surprisingly the opposition or any political party also did not realize the need to press for the Minister’s removal.

It was known to the intelligence agencies, political parties and to the locals in Malabar area that, terrorists were being harboured in their vicinity with the direct indulgence of influential politicians and very often taking advantage of the immunity guaranteed to places of worship.  Investigations on the Chekanur Maulavi murder of 1993, Maarad massacre,  bomb explosions carried out at different parts of the state,  all pointed to growing terrorist menace in Malabar area, but no serious action was initiated by the state government to nib them at the bud itself.  Now it has grown to monstrous dimension with far reaching consequences and direct threat to the national security.

Treaded criminal like Mohammed Ali Hussain who killed 19 innocent people in Kashmir including 3 soldiers was an accomplice of Fahad who had been languishing the comforts at Kozhikode for long. Some influential centres in Kozhikode were initially trying to project Fahad as an innocent guy.  But now it has been found out that, Fahad’s brother in Saudi Arabia is believed to have direct links with terrorist gangs in Kozhikode.

Another Pak national Mohammed Ali with Indian passport was arrested in Trichur. He went to Pakistan at the age of 12 and came to India just 17 months ago and was staying at Kanjoor in Malappuram district.  Ten months ago he married a woman from Thangalpadi and in June 2006 he obtained an Indian passport without much hurdle. More such cases are expected to come to light as the investigations progress.

Union Minister E. Ahmed should accept responsibility for having issued large number of passports to Pak nationals from Kozhikkode passport office and resign from the external affairs portfolio.

It is worth mentioning here that, the minister had shown extra interest in having another passport office sanctioned for Malapuram district which has now become a safe haven for terrorists and currency traffickers.

The guarded silence the Minister maintains on reports that have come out about the rendezvous he had with the terrorist  `FM’ who sponsored Maradu massacre, in a hotel at Saudi Arabia is yet another glaring example to the illicit relations he maintains with undesirable elements.

Under the circumstances, HK demands immediate resignation of the Minister for being responsible for the serious lapses of the External Affairs ministry and compromising national security. The opposition parties must take this issue to the Parliament with all the seriousness it demands and ensure the removal of the Minister from Union Cabinet.
