Hindu organisation in trouble…..for showcasing poverty?
The Bangalore based Akshaya patra foundation has run into
trouble with the government. The foundations provides mid day meals to more
than 10 lakh children in more than 5 states, The Foundation is part of ISCKON. It’s
sad a government headed by the BJP in Karnataka came forward with this step
because of the bickering of some Congress MLA.
Every institution, religious or not, has its share of
internal politics and back stabbing. This is more prominent in amongst the
Hindus, famous for their dis- unity.
But what makes this news more interesting is that, the Congress
MLA has cried foul at ISKCON creating videos and adds of poor children to
collect funds across the world.
Has this MLA seen any of the propaganda videos of the
various Christian Missionaries in India? A simple search on Google will give enough
videos for any Indian to hang his head in shame. The Muslim charities across the world, more so
in the middle east, collect crores of rupees citing India as a place where the Muslims
are starved. More recently the Congress party had no problem adopting a song
from the film that openly depicted selected scenes from India’s under belly to
earn us the gracious nickname ‘slumdogs ‘ !!
Where was all this shame and anger then?
