GURUVAYUR: “My decision to be different in attitude and approach has enabled me to attain a five-wicket haul on my return to the Test cricket. My prayers and the advice of my parents and close associates inspired me for a self-analysis which has made the difference in me,” Sreesanth told Express after offering prayers at the Sree Krishna temple here on Saturday.

“I feel I am blessed to offer prayers for the first time in my life on the Ekadasi Day. I vow to continue the new attitude and approach. But the passion and aggression for the game will continue,” he said.

“My prayers gave me a new mental strength to overcome any provocations to tamper with my concentration, behavioural attitude while I play for the country,” he said. Sreesanth arrived at the temple amidst a heavy crowd of devotees owing to the Ekadasi. He was greeted by the devotees and wished him success.

After offering prayers before Guruvayurappan, he told newsmen that he had arrived there to offer thanks to the Lord for his success and India’s victory. He later called on melsanthi Panayath Subramanian Namboothiri and offered pranams and collected prasadam and blessings from him.

When asked what blessings he sought from his deity Sreesanth told newsmen that “I sought the blessing of the Lord for himself and Team India’s success.” Temple deputy administrator P V Somasundaram and temple manager Narayanan received Sreesanth at the temple. The young cricketer was accompanied by his mother Savithri Amma, father Santhakumaran Nair and other family members at the temple.
