New Delhi : Attributing the arrest of Baba Ramdev, who was undertaking a hunger-strike against rampant corruption all over and huge black money, by the government as humiliation of the entire Sant fraternity of the country, Sri Ashok Singhal, Int’l President of Vishva Hindu Parishad condemned the action in strongest terms and said that it reminded one of the oppressive policies of the British Raj. Today is June 05, and this action also reminded one of June 25, 1975 emergency.

In an urgently called press conference at VHP central office here, a furious Singhal attacked the government against its approach to suppress democratic means of protests and public awakening against corruption and said it proved that the government neck-deep in corruption is also neck-deep in ego of power and wanted to govern by means of oppression and terror.

Livid and indignant Singhal said that the British Raj used to suppress national movements in such shameless manner. He said that there was only one entry-exit gate at Ram Liila Maidan and in such a situation the police trapped the fasting people inside the camp in a post-midnight action and lobbed teargas cells and lathi-charged them which reminded the nation of ‘Jallianwala Bagh’.

Sri Singhal declared that the constitutional, democratic and peaceful approach that needs to be taken by VHP against this oppressive tactics of the government, the Parishad will decide it by this evening after consultations with its office-bearers and instructions would be issued to its nationwide network accordingly.

Singhal made it clear that it is the clear policy of Vishva Hindu Parishad that whatever movement or effort would be made against corruption in the country, VHP would extend its full support and cooperation to it.
