Godhra carnage-Prime accused held
AHMEDABAD/VADODARA: Siddiq Ibrahim Hathila, an accused named in the Godhra carnage case was arrested by the Godhra police early on Monday morning. Hathila was nabbed at his residence on the basis of a tip off. The 54-year-old accused was a part of the illegal assembly that had gathered near the Sabarmati Express on February 27, 2002.
His name had cropped up during investigations and he was on the run since the day of the incident. Early on Monday morning Godhra town police received a tip off that Hathila had gone to his residence on Sunday night and was present there.
A group of select officers from Godhra swooped down at his residence in Mohammadi Mohalla and nabbed him. Hathila was then handed over to the railway police who are investigating the carnage case.
