Gharwapsi In Mumbai, 11 People Embrace Hinduism

11th Jan,2015  Mumbai :  Amidst the hue and cry & weeklong stalling of parliament by opposition parties, here on Sunday another Eleven Christians & Muslims belonging to 3 families embraced Hinduism at a “Gharwapsi” event organized by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad ( VHP). The programme  was organized at Masurashram Temple in Goregaon area of Mumbai.

As per VHP sources it included 7 Christians & 4 Muslims to the Hindu fold. This was second such Homecoming programme organized by VHP in 2 months as on 5th Oct 2014 it had inducted 26 Christians & Muslims into Hindu fold. The programme included Yagna (fire rituals) which all the participants performed followed by ‘Namkarana’ (ritual of giving new name) to the converts to Hinduism.

Those who returned back to Hinduism included people like Kulandesh Anthony (aged 44 years), a Roman Catholic from birth belonging to Mahim Church parish who now changed his name to ‘Govinda Arunthatiyar’ said that he didnt knew when his forefathers became Christians but still after coming in contact with VHP missionaries of his area, he realized that it was his duty to correct the mistake of his forefathers. Similiarly Michael (Aged 24) who now became Karthik & Joseph ( Aged 22) who became Shiva also expressed that they embraced Hinduism of their own free will. Kohinoor Shaikh (Aged 35) residing in Navi Mumbai who now changed her name to Rekha Thakur also mentioned that it was VHP workers who encouraged her to embraced Hinduism that is why she came here today along with her son Wasim Shaikh ( Aged 6 yrs) who now became Pratap Thakur.

              The VHP Zonal Secretary Adv. Anand Kumar Pande stated that  “It was their own decision to comeback to Hindu fold, we just facilitated their wish”. When questioned about the furore on Gharwapsi he mentioned that    “ India is a democratic country & every person has a right to choose and follow which ever faith he likes, who are we to stop them ? And moreover when Hindus convert to Christianity or Islam, all seculars are happy but when it happens vice-versa every thing becomes communal & divisive, Why this double standard ? “

             The programme was also attended by VHP Zonal Chief Shri Parshuram Dubey, VHP District Chief Shri Arvind Dubey, VHP District Joint Chief Shri Khimji Makwana, VHP Central Working Committee memner Shri K.V.Ramchandran & other activists.
