First Hindu spiritual and service fair inaugurated
A
first-of-its-kind fair, showcasing the services done by 33 Hindu
organisations, was inaugurated here on Friday afternoon. The three-day
Hindu Spiritual and Service Fair organised by the Chennai chapter of
the Global Foundation for Civilisational Harmony (GFCHT) is one stop
institute to portray the Hindu way of life and spirituality.
Swami
Dayanand Saraswati, founder of the Hindu Dharma Acharya Sabha,
delivering his inaugural speech before a huge gathering at the Jaigopal
Garodia Vivekananda Vidyalaya said that the fair, points out that the
Hindu Dharma has its soul in giving and the growth of a person lie in
the contribution made.
Swami Mitrananda, director of the
Chinmaya Yuva Kendra and organising secretary of the GFCH exhibition
had conceptualized the idea of this fair and had approached GFCHT for
organising it. He said that a lot of effort has gone into grouping the
33 Hindu organisations together and in the years to come it would be
held at a much larger scale, perhaps at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi or
Jawaharlal Nehru stadium in Chennai.
He said that the fair aimed
to provide a platform to exhibit the spiritual and service activities
to the public, especially students and youth. It also provides a
platform for interaction between different organisations and promotes a
healthy, harmonious respectable relationship among them.
The
presidential address of Swami Abhiramananda of Ramakrishna Math was
read out in his absence. He observed that religion was a realisation
and not a dogma.
Swami Nityananda Paramahamsa of Nityananda
Dhyanapeetam said that Hinduism gave freedom of spirituality and it
evolved from basic human instinct and not a prepared religion.
Danseurs Padma Subramaniam, who is the president of the fair reception committee, welcomed the gathering.
