MANGALORE: The death of Rohit Radhakrishnan, 22, a final year MBBS student of AJ Institute of Medical Sciences has goaded his family to start an online campaign to obtain justice for him.

The body of Rohit with the head severed was found at Tannirbhavi near Mangalore in the early hours of March 23, in what Mangalore City Police authorities maintain is an accidental death. However, his family believes otherwise.

Devraj C Sathyadevan, maternal uncle of Rohit Radhakrishnan, based in Ernakulam has resorted to the online petition using Change.Org and is striving to collect 100 signatures.

With 35 netizens supporting his endeavour thus far, Devraj through the petition has set out to urge home minister KJ George for a free and fair probe in to the circumstances of the death of his nephew, which he maintains as a case of murder most foul.

Noting that the initial inquiries by Mangalore City Police started as a possible case of murder, Devraj said it was later declared as an accident. The field evidences and the circumstantial evidence do not prove that beyond doubt. “I strongly suspect and believe that my nephew was murdered and the accident scene was fabricated to cover up gruesome murder,” Devraj said, adding this is the reason for seeking a fresh probe.

Noting that the police have registered a complaint under section 297 and 304A of Indian Penal Code in connection with this case in jurisdictional Panambur police station, Devraj said. “We have lost the trust and belief in the present investigating team.”

In the petition, the family urged George to have mercy on us and direct the police to conduct investigation with a special team to bring out the facts and book the real culprits.
