E.Ahammed-A shame for Kerala

via Raghavan Nair published on September 7, 2006

The utterances of E. Ahammed on Vandemataram issue had shown his true colour once again. Being a  Union Minister he is bound by the constitution and the oath he has taken in front of the President of India to uphold the laws and  orders passed by the government, but he is not even showing the responsibility of a lay man.

Here, a Union Minster has ridiculed the very spirit of the order when he casually told to the reporters and media people that `those who want to sing may sing Vande Matharam, and those who do not wish to may keep away from that’.

We must not forget that the very same person was the one who raised lots of hue and cry about the happenings in Gujarat and he rushed to the trouble spots in Gujarat at that time to boost the morale of the minorities and motivate them with those venomous utterances. Is it not destiny that such a person could be a Union Minister in this secular country and get away with such statements?

It was IUML that demanded the partition of this great country and all the problems the country today face from within and outside are the result of that partition. It may be pertinent to mention here that when President Musharaf visited India, the very same minister did not hesitate to mention to him proudly during a Dinner that, IUML has been kept alive in this country and he is the only one from that party who could reach the position of a Union Minister after independence.

The left outs have now grown in size from a mole to mountain and through covert and avert methods encroaching into our liberties. Taking advantage of the constitution and the politicians who care only for the vote banks, they have now adorned a challenging posture which could be brought down only when the majority in unison could scream aloud and not just the murmurs from a few corners.
