Doyen of Archaeology Dr S R Rao passed way

published on January 5, 2013

Noted Archaeologist Dr S R Rao passed away on 3 January.

Dr. SR Rao was a doyen of Archaeology and every Indian felt so proud of him for the extraordinarily diligent work in Marine Archaeology and archaeological excavations he had done in Dwaraka and Lothal and his dedication to understanding Indian heritage and culture. The world of scholarship misses a very eminent scholar. His contribution will forever be remembered so long as the name of Gitacharya Sri Krishna. Condolences to Prof. Nalini Rao, his daughter and to all the members of Dr. Rao’s family.

May his aatman rest with the paramaatman and continue to bless us all.
