Don’t try to know RSS through Media : Mohanji Bhagwat

RSS Sarkaryavah, Shri Mohan Bhagwat has appealed to the distinguished persons of the society to join RSS to see its activities from close quarters and contribute in the task of national renaissance.

Addressing a gathering of more than 500 intellectuals and distinguished persons at Siri Fort Auditorium in New Delhi on December 20, he said, “Don’t try to know the RSS through newspapers and media. Come and join its activities. There is no restriction for anyone here to join it or going back if one does not like it. National renaissance is the task to be finished by all and not by the RSS alone. The goal would not be achieved till all of you contribute as per your capacity. Everyone who loves the nation and wishes to see the country touching heights of development and glory is requested to join this task whether being undertaken by RSS associated organisations or any other person or organisation in any part of the country. The more dedication and seriousness we show in this regard, the faster we could see the uplift of the nation before our own eyes.

The function was organised by Delhi unit of RSS. Kshetra Sanghachalak Dr Bajranglal Gupt and Delhi Prant Sanghachalak Shri Ramesh Prakash also shared the dais. Former Governor of Goa and Sikkim Shri Kidarnath Sahani, former Lt. Governor of Delhi Shri Vijay Kapoor, former general secretary of Lok Sabha Shri Subhash Kashyap, former director general of Assam police Shri R.K. Ohri, former CBI director Shri Joginder Singh and hundreds of retired bureaucrats, army officials, businessmen, industrialists, editors of various leading newspapers and magazines, writers, columnists, social activists, scholars, intellectuals and politicians were present on the occasion.

Shri Bhagwat in his introductory address said after Independence the new Government of India did not formulate any policy defining India’s identity and geographical boundary. “Our policies were not formulated keeping in view the whole country and its aspirations. Even the policies dealing with our neighbours are not appropriate. On the other hand China has formulated such a policy underlying its goals and objectives clearly and it has always been making efforts to achieve a glorious future. It has also been trying to enhance its territory time and again. Not only this, Bangladesh, made an independent country in 1971, has such a policy and despite being a small country it is actively trying to expand its territory through various means. It has been infiltrating its citizens into various parts of India under a well-planned policy. We see Bangladeshi nationals in Assam, Bihar and some other parts creating severe population imbalance. By and large India must have a national policy defining its identity and territory,” he said adding that India should move farther keeping in view its talent, capability and future aspirations.

Talking about the idea of Akhand Bharat, he said with the emergence of many new nationalities out of Bharat into small parts like Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, etc. the peace of the whole region has disturbed and these small countries are today riddled with various problems like dictatorship, fundamentalism, terrorism and lack of development. On the other hand, India is making progress, though slowly. “We have the capability to establish peace in the whole world and we don’t want to exploit any country after becoming a Super Power,” he said further adding that the concept of Akhand Bharat is in the interest of the whole sub-continent.

Shri Bhagwat further said no one should have any disappointment regarding the upliftment work. “The work is going on, but slowly, and it is the need of the hour to accelerate the speed. Some leading personalities have expressed apprehension if the work was not done speedily, foreign forces might try to control us again. The government policies, leaders, etc. could prove only helpful in this task but they alone cannot do it. All the scholars belonging to any of the ideologies also want the country to develop at faster speed,” he said.

He said despite having so much diversity we are a successful democracy even after 60 years of Independence. “We fought four wars and won. Our industrialists are buying foreign companies. We are self-reliant in many areas and also have nuclear weapons. But despite that, some small counties in our neigbourhood threat us time and again. Pakistan has been defeated by us four times, but it still disturbs our peace. The overall picture is not satisfactory. Economic growth has registered good increase but the farmers are committing suicide in various states. Facilities are increasing in urban areas but over 60 per cent of the country’s population is still deprived of the basic amenities. This picture should agitate all of us,” he said.

He said development becomes irrelevant if the last person of the society does not get its fruits. “Today, the picture of development is incomplete. Our Parliament had unanimously resolved to liberate the Pak occupied Kashmir. But nothing has so far been done in this regard. We need the system in which no talented person remains neglected and every hand has work. We have the capability to establish peace in the world. But our own people do not take our own culture seriously. Questions are raised over the existence of Sri Ram today and scientific evidences are sought for it. A fashion has begun to negate everything that establishes our asmita and identity,” he added.

Later, answering the queries of some of the participants he said the Kashmiri Hindus should have firm determination to return to the valley. The whole country and the society should be educated on this issue and a peaceful atmosphere should be developed for their safe return. He said a pressure should be built over the government to change its divisive polices and the backbone of terrorists should also be broken. About the Sanskrit language, he said Sanskrit is a living language and there are lakhs of people who mention Sanskrit as their mother tongue in the census. The Samskrit Sambahshan programme launched by Sanskrit Bharati has become very popular across the world and lakhs of people are learning Sanskrit every year through this programme. He said corruption could not be curbed till the crisis of character continues and till every countrymen resolves neither to accept nor to give bribe. “We should ensure that the people with high character should run the country. It’s all depend upon the quality and nature of the society. If such things are imposed from top, public may revolt after some time. The change should come from within the society,” he added.
