Swami Dayananda Sarawathi always hits the nail right on its head. At the book release function of Dr Subramanian Swamy’s Hindus Under Siege – The Way Out too he was at his brilliant best. ‘Everyone has a right to his own belief and religion,’ Swami Dayananda Saraswathi said and stressed that no one had a right to destroy the culture of other religions in a reference to proselytising activities by Christian missionaries. The spiritual leader drove home the point that conversion is also a kind of terrorism aimed at innocent victims.

Dayananda Saraswathi said Christian missionaries by preaching their gospel to the Hindus actually end up harming their religious sentiments, cultural values and national ethos. ‘They fail to understand that it is a form of terrorism to force their faith upon others,’ he said and added, ‘Hindus should understand their hoary past and the importance of protecting their faith from outside attack. They should no longer remain passive.’

The learned Swamiji urged the Hindus to read Subramanian Swamy’s book. ‘He (Subramanian Swamy) has given wonderful illustrations of the problems faced by Hindus and it would be a ready reckoner for the kind of affirmative action that Hindus must take.’

The book is an effective and objective account of the pathetic status of Hindus in their own country, he added.
