Complaint against Arundhati for ‘glorifying’ Maoists
A complaint has been lodged with a local police station of Raipur against Arundhati Roy by a social worker for allegedly glorifying Maoists in a recently-published article.
Vishwajit Mitra, in his complaint pointed out that the essay in the March issue of a news magazine, with its contents and photographs amounted to invocation of Chhattisgarh Special Public Security Act-2005.
Besides lodging his complaint, he also sent its copies to the State Governor Shekhar Dutt, Chief Minister Raman Singh and Director General of Police Vishwaranjan, demanding action against Arundhati Roy. Vishwajit Mitra told reporters that the essay had sought to glorify Maoists also denigrates the country’s system.
The matter has been referred to State intelligence bureau, police sources said.
