KOLLAM: Forward Bloc national secretary Devarajan said that communists in the country defeated the cause of the country’s freedom by becoming inactive during the crucial moment of freedom struggle.

Speaking at the reception accorded to the Nethaji Desaraksha yathra held at Chinnakkada on Tuesday, he said Communist party was acting according to the instructions of the Soviet Union in favour of the British Government.

He said Congress movement which had fought for the country’s freedom did not exist today. The Congress party led by Sonia Gandhi was one of the many groups in the Congress, he said.

He said rulers of this country had taken care to obliterate the memory of the role played by Netaji Subash Chandra Bose.

Devarajan said India had become a poor country under the Manmohan Singh Government. While there was immense wealth in the country, majority of the citizens were living in poverty, he said. Forward Bloc national chairman Kaipuzha Velappan Nair, State secretary Kaipuzha V Rammohan and others spoke.
