Himachal Pradesh unit of Hindu Jagaran Manch organised a grand yajna in Chamba to bring back the 16 girls who were clandestinely converted into Christianity by Christian missionaries in September. The yajna was organised on November 5 at the famous Hidimba temple. Amidst the presence of thousands of local people, 52 priests performed the yajna. All the girls participated in the ceremony. Mahant Suryanath and Himachal Pradesh Prant Pracharak, Shrinivas Moorti performed the kanyapoojan and welcomed the girls back to Hinduism.

Later, addressing a Hindu sammelan, Mahant Suryanath said India is alive since centuries due to her spiritual strength. He said despite having been divided into various sections we are one due to the religious faith. This is the reason the Mughals could not destroy us. The onslaughts of Mughals were defeated by our great personalities like Shivaji Maharaj and Maharana Pratap. Expressing concern over the declining Hindu population, he said if this decrease continues the nation may become slave one day. Citing the example of Kashmir, he said over 3.5 lakh Hindus had to flee in one day from Kashmir. He quoted a report that said a large number of Hindus were killed in Kashmir and more than 2700 Hindu girls are still missing. He said Hindus are divided into castes, creeds, sects, languages and regions. He said the solution to all the problems is unity. He called for eradicating untouchability from the society.

Earlier, Shrinivas Moorti spoke about the life of Shri Guruji. He said Shri Guruji in his life toured the whole country 65 times and deeply understood the problems of the nation. It is because of his efforts that today we have 26,000 Vidya Mandirs, 73,000 service projects and effective work in 63 spheres of social life. Shri Ved Prakash, state convener of Hindu Jagaran Manch, also spoke on the occasion.  (FOC)
