Christian Council approached Gujrat Governor ahead of RSS meet
Gandhinagar : The Maharashtra Chapter of the All India Christian Council (AICC) approached the governor of Gujrat demanding him to appoint a central administrator as CEO for the Dangs district to “supervise and enforce the rule of law” where Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh will organise a major conclave in February 2006.
As per AICC, the Dangs district administration and Police are “communal†and they have no faith on them.
The RSS has announced its plans to hold the three-day meet, calling it a Maha Kumbh Mela after the traditional Hindu conclaves, in February, in which about 5 lakhs people are expected to participate.
The delegation will also approach the union home ministry to seek deployment of security forces of a central agency in the surrounding districts during the meet.
RSS is organising a three-day mela in the Dangs to make a platform for tribals converts to Christianity back to Hinduism. The Shabari Maha Kumbh Mela will begin on February 11 in a village called Subir.
The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) also will take active part in the mela.
Sources in the VHP say they expect some one lakh tribal converts to Christianity will be welcomed back to Hinduism.
RSS leader Pravin Maniar, who is also a member of the committee organising the mela said ‘‘Religious leaders will remain present at the mela we are organising. There will be poojas, and if there are any ghar vapasis (homecomings) we will have arrangements for that.’’
