“Channels and Movies should Stop Ridiculing Servicemen”.

published on August 11, 2014
An executive meeting of the state unit of Akhil Bharata Poorva Sainika Seva Parishad has passed a memorandum calling for an end to the ridicule being showered on defence personnel in Malayalam channels and movies. The organization took serious note of the recent ridicule allegedly showered on servicemen by a Malayalam channel. The meet was conducted in Madhav Nivas, Elamakkara and was inaugurated with RSS Akhil Bharatiya Karyakari Sadan S Sethumadavan lighting the lamp.

“By depicting army men as barging into bedrooms, brandishing rifles, channels like Mazhavil Manorama have taken deliberate steps in humiliating servicemen who have pledged their life and sacrificed their very being towards safeguarding the nation. This is highly deplorable. Screening a movie like ‘Ocean of Tears’ in Thrissur, a movie which has been banned in Kashmir, is akin to treason and anti-national ” the board observed.

Another grievance voiced was the re-introduction of remittance of house tax by ex-servicemen, which was earlier exempted by the government. The meet also stated that various commemorative programmes in connection with Kargil Vijay Divas, in all districts of the state, had been a grand success.

It was also announced that state meet of Ex-Servicemen Seva Parishad will be held in Kottarakkara on 25 and 26 October.
