Union Minister Jitendra Singh today said coupled weather forecast technology will be used during the forthcoming Amarnath yatra commencing from June 28 to give weather informations to pilgrims after every three hours.

“We are going to work on new and more innovative weather forecasting (coupled weather forecast) in coming time, which will be put in implementation very soon in next week or so,” Minister of state for Science and Technology and Earth Sciences Singh told reporters here.

“CWF will give us forecast after every three hours and it will be used during Amarnath yatra,” he said, adding the new technology will also be used for monsoon forecasting.

“We will (also) be able to make forecasting in monsoon more accurately and also forecasting of the weather…,” he said.

“We must have mechanism of periodic weather forecasting across the 24 hours — and in every three or 4 hours with the CWF mechanism — which was not being used earlier”, he said.

Singh was given a rousing reception by state BJP leaders at Kachi Chawani-based state headquarters as he arrived here after becoming Union Minister.
