BMS calls nationwide strike on August 10
Government Employees National Confederation, affiliated to Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS), has given a call for nationwide one-day token strike of central government employees on August 10 for their demand of immediate constitution of VIth Central Pay Commission. Talking to mediapersons in Delhi, Shri Girish Awasthi said in New Delhi that the VIth Pay Commission should have been constituted in January 2003 and its report should have been implemented w.e.f. January 2006. But the central government is silent over this issue. He pointed out that the central government employees had decided to observe nationwide strike on March 1 this year but following an assurance from the Prime Minister the strike was postponed. But the Prime Minister has not kept his words. The confederation has now also taken the decision to observe nationwide agitation programmes viz. gate meetings, dharna, rallies and wearing of black badge w.e.f. July 17 to 20.
