The ruling BJP has maintained its winning spree in the by-elections to the Gujarat local self-Government bodies this time too.

Of the 68 seats in the district panchayats, taluka panchayats and nagar palikas — for which by-elections were held — the BJP bagged as many as 35 while the Congress won 23.

In the nagar palikas, the BJP won 14 seats and the Congress won only four while in the taluka panchayats, the BJP won 17 seats and Congress got 14.

Among the zilla panchayat seats, the Congress won five seats while BJP bagged four.

In the by-elections to the seven Assembly constituencies in September, the BJP had won as many as five seats.

However, the party had lost the Junagadh Municipal Corporation elections earlier.
