BJP West Bengal wing general secretary Rahul Sinha has demanded the immediate arrest and initiation of criminal proceeding for murder and arson against West Bengal Chief Minister Buddadeb Bhattacharya, who had under mounting public pressure taken up the responsibility of the genocide.

The BJP leader also demanded the promulgation of President’s rule in West Bengal following ‘the State sponsored genocide’ at Nandigram and Singur.

Addressing a press conference at Kochi on Saturday, Sinha criticised the Congress in Bengal for extending support to the Left Front. He alleged that Congress tried to influence the CBI through Prime Minister and Home Minister.

Though the Left Front Government had stated that 14 were killed, 70 were injured and 50 were missing in the Nandigram violence, unofficial reports stated that 70 persons were killed, 250 were injured and 354 missing.

Pointing that the BJP was not against industrialisation, he said “we want industry in fallow land and not cultivable land”. “The West Bengal Chief Minister’s industrialisation programme was actually aimed at promoting Real Estate”, he alleged.

At Singur TATA was offered 997 acres of land for production of one lakh cars annually, whereby at Gurgaon Maruti made their plant at 320 acres for producing five lakh cars annually, he said.

The statements made by the Chief Minister in the Assembly, High Court and to Mamata Banerjee on acquisition in Singur were extremely contradictory. The Government came out with such foul play in Nandigram also, he alleged.

The LF Government that put up bill boards all over W Bengal did not take any initiative to open any of the closed 62,000 industries closed down due to the militancy of CITU, he said. Sinha, who is on a 3-day visit to Kerala, said when the LF came to power in 1977 in W Bengal, the registered jobless were 17,47,662 only and it now touched over one crore.
