BJP swept UP local body election

NEW DELHI: Bharatiya Janata Party has almost swept the Mayoral elections in UP, winning in Gaziabad, Agra, Varanasi, Aligarh, Gorakhpur, Meerut, Kanpur among others.
Party spokesman Prakash Javdekar said, “The BJP has come back with a bang. These results are an indication of the shape of things to come in the 2007 assembly elections in UP.â€
