BJP president Nitin Gadkari on Wednesday felicitated Uttarakhand Chief Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank and Finance Ministers of Bihar and Gujarat, Sushil Kumar Modi and Saurabh Saha, respectively, for their States outsmarting others by achieving higher growth rate.

Gadkari praised Gujarat for “logging an average GDP growth rate of 11.05 per cent from financial year 2004-05 to 2008-09”. Bihar, where JD(U) is in power with its NDA ally BJP, came in for special praise from Gadkari.

“The turnaround of Bihar under NDA rule, which has registered a GDP growth rate of 11.03 per cent and has emerged as the second fastest growing State in the country, is miraculous. This has come in the backdrop of a negative growth rate of 5.15 per cent of Lalu Raj,” Gadkari said.

The BJP chief also felicitated Uttarakhand CM Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, who is also the Finance Minister of his State. Uttarakhand is the third fastest growing State as per the CSO figures with growth rate of 9.31 per cent.

Gadkari said the fact that among top five States, four are BJP- and NDA-ruled and the absence of any Congress ruled States in the list speaks for itself.
