BJP elects Rajnath Singh as the new President

Sri Rajnath Singh is elected as the next BJP President at the Mumbai BJP conference. The BJP leaders and the Sangh Parivar expressed the hope that he would steer the party on the path of ideology and discipline and the principles of collective leadership. “Rajnath Singh is a senior and mature leader with commitment for cultural nationalism. He is taking over the party at a time when the party and polity at large is facing major challenges. Singh would be able to take on the challenges successfully and steer the party on the path of ideology, idealism, discipline, and value-based politics with renewed vigor on the principles of collective leadership”. RSS spokesman Ram Madhav said.


RAJNATH SINGH was born on July 10, 1951 at Bhabhaura village in Uttarpradesh’s Chanauli district. Singh got his post graduate degree in Physics from Gorakhpur University and was a lecturer at the KB Postgraduate College in Mirzapar in 1971.


From 1969, he was very active with Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad, the largest student organization in the world. He was the Organizing Secretary of the ABVP Gorakpur division from 1969 to 1971 and the Secretary of BJP Mirzapur Unit in 1974. Singh was active with Jai Prakash Narayanan during emergency and was arrested in 1963. He was elected to the UP assembly in 1977 and became the BJP State Secretary in 1983 and became the Vice President of BJP in UP in 1990. Rajnath Singh became an Education Minister in 1991. He was a member of the Rajya Sabha from 1994 to April 2000 and again from 2000 to October 2001. Rajnath Singh was appointed the Chief Whip of BJP in Rajya Sabha. He was appointed as Surface Transport Minister  in Vajpai Government. From 200 till 2002, he was the Chief Minister of UP. In that period he earned a name for himself as an able administrator, a keen strategist, and policy expert on matters that affected the state. After the assembly election in UP in 2002, Singh became the Secretary of BJP.


Rajnath Singh is an expert on national unemployment, poverty eradication strategies and job creation. Singh has also written several articles and books on the Causes and Solutions of unemployment problem.


Rajnath Singh is a rare combination where dream, imagination and vision-exist in harmony with lucid analysis, realism and a practical sense of things. His commitment for Indian cultural nationalism matured through years of thought, study, reflection and active participation in Sangh related organizations. He has traveled all over India campaigning tirelessly for promoting cultural nationalism, and eradication of  poverty in all its forms.
