BJP demands CBI probe into Marad killings
New Delhi
Alleging that the findings of the Commission headed by Justice Thomas P Joseph “exposed the communal politics” played by both the LDF and the UDF, party spokesman Prakash Javadekar told reporters here that the report submitted by the Commission in late February 2006 was gathering dust in the Kerala Secretariat.
“This act of hiding the report is a joint mission of UDF and LDF to appease a particular vote bank. BJP demands immediate CBI inquiry into the Marad massacre”, he said.
Javadekar claimed that the Commission has found that the Marad massacre was a planned conspiracy involving extremist organisations which were funded from abroad.
“The report has also disapproved the UDF Government’s argument for not having the CBI probe due to procedural impossibility. This has vindicated our stand right from the beginning. The BJP condemns the Congress Government for betraying its promise of taking immediate action against the guilty after the submission of the report”, he said.
Alleging that the real reason for not making public the findings of the Commission were “purely political”, the BJP spokesman alleged that the NDF, an outfit allegedly having links with ISI is supporting tacitly UDF while the PDP led by Madani and Jamait-e-Islam are directly supporting LDF.
