Balachandra Menon – ? BJP Independent from Thiruvananthapuram
T’PURAM
: National award winner and Malayalam actor
Balachandra Menon
today said he has planned to contest the Lok Sabha election as an independent
from Thiruvananthapuram.
“One thing is certain. The offer is not from the UDF or LDF, so
obviously it should be from the NDA. The offer has been there for some
time,” Menon told reporters.
Menon, 55, is an accomplished director, actor, script writer, lyricist
and producer. He won the National Award for best actor in 1998 for Samantharangal.
In 2006, Menon was seen in Classmates, which was the highest Malayalam
grosser of that year.
“As I am a film personality, I feel it would be best to be an
independent candidate. Thus if I decide to contest it won’t be under
the symbol of any political party,” said Menon.
