Baba Ramdev says he has made no claims of curing AIDS and cancer
NEW DELHI: Seeking to quell the controversy over the Health Ministry’s notice to him, Baba Ramdev said he has never made any claims of curing diseases like AIDS and cancer through yoga.
“The notice doesn’t apply to me. I have never made claims that I could cure diseases and I don’t believe in magic. People suffering from diabetes, asthma, high blood pressure and heart disease who have benefited from yoga have made these claims,” he told a press conference here.
He also said his institute would soon send a reply to the notice sent by the Health Ministry on his claims that he could cure various diseases through yoga.
“I don’t want to be dragged into any controversy. The notice was not a result of a fight between two individuals and no lobby is after me,” he said.
“He (Health Minister Anbumani Ramadoss) is a very nice person and I am happy that he appreciated the fact that yoga plays a very important role. I would like to invite him to my institute so that he could see that we are doing a scientifically-backed research,” he said.
The yoga guru said the notice sent to him under the Drugs and Magic Act was not applicable to him. “I a have lot of respect for him (Ramadoss) and I know this (sending of notice) is not his fault. The people concerned have no knowledge of what I am doing,” he said.
Ramdev said the notice should have been sent to his Divya Pharmacy and not to him personally.
