Are We A Bunch of Impotents?

Dear  Friends,

I am compelled to ask a question all of us.

Are We A Bunch of Impotents?

On the last Friday, I hung my head in unbearable shame. The Chinese have yet again shown to the world that India can be insulted with impunity as the present Government has lost their spine somewhere on the way.

Eighty Heads of State or Government were present in the Bird Nest Stadium to cheer the participating contingents of their respective nations. From the US President to our neighbor Sri Lankan President, many important and proud heads of nations spanning the globe were there putting their hands together. However, according to the Chinese decision makers, the head, of either the state or the government of India, is not fit to be present in that august company of World Leaders. That may be so, but they found one person worth the invitation. That is the `Super’ head of this grossly abused Nation. They invited Mrs. Sonia Maino along with her children, grand children and servants. All of them seemed to be more important than the Indian PM or the Prez.

I am not bothered here of the fact that she is not holding any constitutional position.

I am not bothered of the popular belief that she did not apply for Indian citizenship even after her twenty-five years marriage into an important political family of India.

Or, I am not bothered of the rumor that when her M.I.L. was defeated in the election, she and her husband were hiding in the Italian Embassy.

For that matter, I am not even bothered that Mr. Subramanian Swami and many others say Sonia Maino was in the KGB payrolls.

I am only bothered that, accepted the invitation without a semblance of protest against the Chinese lack of respect to the Head of the government, which her party has formed.

I am not bothered that the present incumbent of the Rashtrapati Bhavan is as meritorious as some of her predecessors. I am only concerned that she is the President of my Nation and in that position, she is not less important than the State Head of Sri Lanka.

I am not bothered that even in my worst nightmares, Manmohan Singh appeared as the Prime Minister of this great country. But the he is my Prime Minister as of now. And if he is ignored by a foreign country, I feel hurt as an Indian.

I am only bothered that Sonia Maino has become a party in insulting my Country.

I am Ashamed that I did not hear even a whimper of protest from any corner of this country of a billion plus against such a downrightly appalling treatment towards our self-respect.

I am ashamed that none of self-righteous media found it worth writing even a one-line-comment against this affront.

I am ashamed that none of the China-looking Comrades found time to criticize this conscious outrage.

I am ashamed of those of us who do not find any thing offending in this episode.

At the beginning, I asked a question, “Are We a Bunch of Impotents?”

My answer is a resounding `YES’!
